CD Out!
Sassy Anastacia A "Freak
of Nature"
If you haven't had the pleasure of
hearing the music of hot new artist, Anastacia—run, don't
walk, to your nearest music store and buy her CD Not That Kind.
Then get ready for sensory overload of the pleasurable kind. Definitely
not your typical Brittany Spears clone or Janet Jackson wannabe,
Anastacia is blazing a path that's entirely her own.
The Chicago-born, New York City-raised
Anastacia is known for her sass, style, and unique vocal styling.
She has often been compared to a young Taylor Dayne with her soaring
vocals and scorching ballads. Anastacia's music are equal parts
dance, R&B, rock and powerful ballads. This chick's definitely
got lungs!
I discovered the singer quite by
accident while browsing the Web and am now a loyal and avid Anastacia
fan. So much so that I paid import price for Freak of Nature,
her latest European CD release! Her music is simply infectious,
the videos sizzling, and her talent unsurpassed. This is one singer
who is going to be huge!
Most artists have the famous "sophomore
slump" but not Anastacia. Freak of Nature is great,
filled with a wide variety of cuts similar to her first album,
but different enough to stand on its own. At first, Not That
Kind was my favorite, but after listening to Freak of Nature quite
a few times, I would be hard-pressed to say which release is better.
I think they are both simply outstanding! One simply can't sit
still when Anastacia starts belting out the infectious dance hit, "I'm
Outta Love" from Not That Kind or tearing it up
with "One Day In Your Life" from Freak
of Nature. This girl is nothing short of fantastic!
Freak of Nature has two different sounds, depending on which version
of the CD you purchase. The International version has a more dance-influence
beat and is my personal favorite. The U.S. release is more rock-influenced,
with a heavier drum beat, and extra song (duo with Faith Evans) included.
In my humble opinion, the International release far surpasses the U.S.
release in quality and danceability. Also, don't miss the latest DVD
release of "One Day In Your Life." Not only is the video
release of this song hot, but they also have a "Making of the Video" and
you get a behind-the-scenes look of Anastacia during the making of ODIYL.
If you like music with a beat that
stays in your head long after the song is over, then Anastacia
is definitely the artist for you. Exciting, strong, and soulful,
Anastacia is definitely my kind of singer.

Cher is "Living Proof" of Staying
Power
During an interview on VH-1, Cher
once likened herself to a cockroach, in reference to her staying
power. Although she's much more appealing than a cockroach, Cher definitely has
staying power.
Her latest effort, Living Proof,
which has only been released overseas is simply phenomenal. The
follow-up to chart-topping Believe, Living Proof is
filled with hard-driving dance beats, salsa-influenced ballads,
and lots of "feel good" music.
I recently had the pleasure of seeing
Cher on her last world tour and will honestly say she is nothing
short of amazing. This woman puts on one hell of a show—dancing,
singing, and dazzling her audience—song after song. The 2-1/2
hour show I witnessed passed in a flash, and later I realized I
had been standing and singing at the top of my lungs practically
the entire time. One simply can't not sing to music by the
Goddess of Music.
Living Proof starts out with "The
Music's No Good," which
sucks you in immediately. From the moment the music started, I
found myself tapping along to the beat. "Song For The Lonely" is
being touted as a chart-topper in the vein of "Believe." Seguing
from those to the infectious "Different Kind of Love Song," the
discoesque "Love is a Lonely Place Without You" and
the fantastic "Love One Another," Cher just keeps
the hits coming. There's not a bad song on the entire CD!
Living Proof is currently available as an import with songs
not available on the U.S. release, as well as the U.S. release
which was released in early 2002 with a song not available on the
import! If you're like me, you just couldn't wait and bought the
import. Believe me, it's worth every single penny!
Rating: (on a scale of 1-5, with
one being poor and five as excellent)
